CNC Machined Materials — Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Titanium & More

Louis Wiedmann SA machines a wide range of metals and engineering plastics on our CNC centres. Over 55 years of experience allow us to master optimal cutting parameters for each material, ensuring a perfect surface finish and the tightest tolerances.

Aluminium

The most common CNC machining material. Lightweight, excellent machinability, good strength-to-weight ratio.

  • 6082 T6 — versatile, good corrosion resistance
  • 7075 T6 — high strength, aerospace
  • 2017A — good machinability, general engineering
  • AlMgSi — anodisable, decorative parts

Steel

For parts requiring hardness and high mechanical strength.

  • C45 — standard structural steel
  • 42CrMo4 — high strength, hardenable
  • 100Cr6 — bearings, wear parts
  • 16MnCr5 — case-hardening, gears

Stainless Steel

Corrosion resistance for medical, food and chemical industries.

  • 316L — surgical, pharmaceutical
  • 304L — food, chemical
  • 17-4PH — high strength, precipitation-hardened
  • Duplex 2205 — offshore, aggressive chemical

Titanium

For aerospace, space and medical. Lightweight yet extremely strong.

  • Ti6Al4V Grade 5 — aerospace, implants
  • Grade 2 CP — chemical, corrosion resistance

Copper, Bronze & Brass

Electrical and thermal conductivity, watchmaking and electronics applications.

  • Cu-ETP — pure copper, maximum conductivity
  • CuBe2 — beryllium copper, springs, connectors
  • CuSn8 — bronze, bearings, bushings
  • CuZn39Pb3 — free-cutting brass, watchmaking

Engineering Plastics

For insulation, chemical resistance or weight reduction.

  • PEEK — high performance, implants, aerospace
  • POM-C (Delrin) — gears, guides, bearings
  • PTFE (Teflon) — chemical, non-stick
  • PA6/66 (Nylon) — lightweight structural parts
  • PVDF — chemical, semiconductors

Special & Exotic Alloys

Proven expertise on the most challenging materials to machine.

  • Inconel 625/718 — high temperature, aerospace
  • Hastelloy — extreme chemical resistance
  • CuBe2 (beryllium copper) — springs, injection tooling
  • Tungsten — counterweights, radiation shielding
  • Custom alloys — contact us for any specific material
